Biography

Jo Gamvros, Photographer BIO.

Photographer Jo Gamvros brings together a collection of photographic journeys to feast on, from over 15 years traveling through Europe and Asia. Her inspirations are found in old-world marketplaces, simple dishes, shared conversations and spaces in bars and eateries that she has visited around the world.

Each photo conjures stories, shared most likely by like-minded travelers, such as; stumbling upon a hidden, tempting prawn bar in Barcelona or a vibrant funghi porcini market in Torino, or striking up a conversation with a local fisherman who offers up philosophies on life (and fish), in a hidden laneway in the Greek Island of Samos.
Jo’s passion to discover, observe and involve herself with food and wine culture and all that is loved, creates a uniqueness that is prominent in her photography collection.

An extension of Jo Gamvros’ photographic work is featured at co-owned "Bar Lourinhã".
"Bar Lourinhã" in essence represents what Jo and husband Chef Matthew McConnell adore about traveling and dining throughout Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Turkey.

“For over 15 years I have collected numerous photographs, while Matt has collected numerous recipes & we have shared many conversations & delicious tastes. I have shot markets, streetscapes, various cafes & bars and houses on many a lane way. Sometimes simply stumbling across a small shared feast with family or strangers or eating in hand a plate of grilled prawns or fresh fetta spanakopita are truly the experiences that make who I am today & what I love to photograph.”
